After mass protests in Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda, and after thousands of people sent mails, and text messages (SMS) to Lithuanian ministers, we have won a small victory – Lithuanian Government steps away from ACTA. This is the very first step: a battle is won, but war is still going.
After Government meeting today Minister of Justice Remigijus Šimašius said, that Government steps away from passing ACTA to ratification and it will go forward only after being discussed in public.
Lithuanian Government has online video broadcast channel where every meeting can be seen in real time. Ironically, but when discussion about ACTA came, live stream was interrupted in guise of “some sort of meetings aren’t broadcasted”.
Lithuania thanks you for your support. Every text message, every email counts. As all of us said 22 years ago, when Singing Revolution came: in the name of your and our freedom! Tommorow, February 16th is the day of our Independence!
